A Journey Into the Unknown - The First 21 Weeks

21 weeks ago, your mom and I were set off on an amazing journey. It was a journey preceded by years of prayer and a whole lot of wonder about whether or not you would ever really be a reality. But here we are. In about 19 weeks, we will become parents. To be perfectly honest, I'm not really sure that we will know exactly what to do when you arrive, but I know beyond a shadow of doubt that you will be loved and we will be ecstatic to be there for the start of your own life's journey.

This blog will be a place for us to share our thoughts about life and parenthood and means for us to document this wonderful journey. I'll admit to procrastinating in a big way in getting this blog up and running. So, to the least, there are a few things that have already happened that we need to share with you. Here's a little synopsis of what's happened over the last few months:

Sunday, February 21, 2010
Mom knew something was going on with her body. She woke up early that morning before church and took a pregnancy test. It looked like it might be positive, but it was really hard to tell. We decided not to get too excited just yet and figured that Mom should try another test the next day.

Monday, February 22, 2010
Same drill as the day before. The test looked positive, but these things are not really easy to read. We decided that Mom would call her doctor the next day to ask for some advice.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010
The nurse at the doctor's office said that it really sounded like Mom was pregnant. She scheduled her for blood work on Thursday and an appointment the next Tuesday. They also suggested trying out a digital test that would give a more definite answer. Mom did that and you can see the results below:

So, our journey had truly begun. It started out on a big high and had a few bumps along the way. I'll continue to document more of the journey here.
